#1Hari1Ayat: Children

Wealth and children are [but] adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for [one's] hope. (Q.S.Al-Kahfi (18): 46)

Ustadz Salim A. Fillah once reminded in his book, Lapis Lapis Keberkahan, that it’s not a blessing to have many kids if they don’t obey Allah and Rasulullah. It’s one kid, but he/she keeps praying for us and doing good deeds that much more important – doa anak shaleh/shalehah adalah salah satu dari amalan yang tidak terputus hingga kita berpindah alam.

Because of this, I found many couples that worried a lot of not having kids soon after getting married. Three of my best friends getting pregnant in around one year of their marriage. One of them pregnant right in one month after getting married, masyaAllah!

But others still struggling to have kids, even after two or three years of marriage. One of them is my cousin, Intan, who wrote her thought here. To hear what she feels, it sucks you know.

Life is actually simple, it’s all about what Allah gives to us. If Allah doesn’t give it to us, then He will give something better. As simple as that.

Maybe some people think it is because we are not good enough to be a parents, or because we don’t do efforts needed to have them come to our life – but Zakariya just had Maryam at his very old age. Do we dare to say that Zakariya wasn’t pious and deserves to be a father? Or when you know some couples try IVF for many times but Allah still doesn’t make it, do you have any idea how much money they have spend?

Tawakkul, tawakkul. The most important thing is we keep trusting Him fully. Find interesting things to do with your spouse so you can embrace the marriage. Hmmm, I think I would write some tips about it. Stay tune! ;)

Lots of love,
Prima
