Happiness Project: Headache Please Go Away

Pekerjaan, sekolah, pergaulan. Tapi kalau engga sehat, sama aja bohong. Semua itu tidak berarti tanpa kesehatan.

Terus kok bersyukur kalau dikasih sakit, prim?

Get well soon for you who is sick at the moment!

Love,
Prima

Happiness Project: an Email from Chicago

There were a lot of good news today! Alhamdulillah. Which one should I tell first? :)

In the morning, my dad told me that my only brother got accepted in STAN. Wow, that’s so prestigious! I am proud of him as I saw myself that he studied very very hard. He usually comes home at night after courses. Sometimes he still makes time to help her mother delivering pizza. I can see he will grow as a good man insyaAllah, and perhaps there will be many girls attracted to him. Hmmm, they should pass the selection process held by me! Lol.

My two offices (yeah, in case you don’t know, I work for TWO companies) are planning some campaigns and we have meeting on WhatsApp all day long. So far, the results are beyond our expectation. However, I still can’t jump in as I have some responsibilities to do too on my side. But never mind, I feel blessed to be able to work with great people. I send support and prayer from Jogja!

In the afternoon, as I was waiting for Anja, my partner in crime speaking Korean, I received an email that makes me feel motivated. My Seonsaengnim said, there is no fast track in learning foreign language. Practice, practice, practice is the only key. Unfortunately, I can’t practice my Korean with people at home. Once I read my Korean book and said ‘haraboji’, then my aunt screamed ‘I know what it means...Father. Right?’ ‘Hmmm, aunt, it’s actually grandfather. Close enough.’ *big grin*

Anyway, this email is from Addison. Who is she? Please read here and here to get to know her. Long story short, she converted around two years ago after found my blog. Not that I was the only reason for her to do so – we all know that Allah is the One who gives hidayah to somebody. But suddenly, I got reminded why I start my blog at the first time. I recalled of my purpose in writing, or even my life goals. I want to make every single second means da’wah. I want da’wah to be ‘fun’. I want every youth Muslim understands that the best da’wah is ‘only’ about behavior. Preach still needed, sometimes, but as Rasulullah also does the thing: be the best example. Be the light for the world. Be rahmatan lil ‘alamin

I have to be honest that since World Muslimah Award, I feel it was the ‘peak’ of my achievements in blogging. I will never be a fashion/make up blogger (at least not in this year) therefore I might not be a so-called influencer. I am not that famous on Instagram, Twitter, and so on. After getting the title, I almost feel like I drowned into laziness. I have to find another mountain to climb. I have to find another award to be accomplished. If there is no appreciation like that, I don't want to write anymore... I forgot one thing: I write for myself. Yeah, maybe I write for my readers, but on top of that, I have to stay true to myself. And that is what my blog is all about.

If that’s the case: to keep writing honestly and sincerely, I hope someday there will be more ‘Addison’ to read my blog and befriend with me.  I don’t limit my friends. Even though you drink Soju like I drink mineral water, I still can be your friend. I mean here is~ I expect to help you by providing my life experiences and my thoughts. So then you can help me too, by giving me your opinion. We can discuss, and that’s how we learn from each other.

So, what have you learn from me? :)

Lots of love,
Prima

Happiness Project: My Aunt is Off to Munich

Sunday, Monday, and today is already Tuesday! Not that I don’t think about the happiness project but I was so lazy to write it down. Meh. So, as this is the third day since Saturday, I should have three reasons of happiness. Those are:
1. My Aunt
2. My Job
3. Other People’ Job

I chose to take some rest on Sunday because I have worked hard on last Saturday. What did I do? I re-watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Until now, I can think hardly of me being the Harry Potter who has to look for horcruxes. I mean, oh boy, that task ain’t easy at all. Even for a 17 years old wizard. But it’s not what makes me feel grateful.

I feel so lucky to have my aunt who I’m living with, here in Yogyakarta. Not like Harry’s aunt, my aunt is really nurturing and always proud of my achievements. The fact that I am stuck in my thesis writing (hmmm, she doesn’t know it actually) doesn’t make her care about me less. She motivated me with other ways I almost think she will dispel me. Lol.

That Sunday, she departures to Munich for a conference. Although I have no plan (…yet) to be a lecturer like her, I wish I will be a teacher someday. Maybe I don’t have to be an official teacher in an official institution. However, my aunt always reminds me to make our time the most, for the sake of other people’s lives. To help uneducated and poor people finding their ways to have a better life. And that’s where I’m heading to.

Second reason that starting sounds cliché now is my job. It doesn’t requires me to commute anywhere. In the other side, it makes me feel like being an anak rumahan much more. I always been, and this kind of job makes me even lazier to go out. Haha.

The challenge is when people don’t think that you are working. It looks like you are just typing and ‘playing’ with your laptop, right? I also have that kind of thoughts haunting me. Do you really make money? Do you have to make a report for your boss? Do you have a team to lead? Trust me, I am juggling myself between all those responsibilities. So the next challenge is time management. If I don’t manage my time well (and seems like I haven’t done it right), I will feel like I work 24 hours. Lucky me, writing is not that difficult for me. Ciehhh. I think I am living my dream. I once wrote that I want to be a feature writer who works from home, and look at me now! Alhamdulillah.

The happiness project slapped me today as we are having some handyman (…tukang, actually) renovating our house. They work happily even though I am sure I got paid much more than them. They also work a lot harder than me. So, having my job and compare it to them… The ‘difficulty’ is nothing.

I think that’s all for today. Hopefully I can make more time to list all the reasons of happiness for tomorrow. But now, I have to catch my thesis advisor to consult on my title. Thankfully I had a productive morning; I have finished editing some of my team’s writing. What about you?

Lots of love,
Prima
